Video: Feast your eyes on the five tries nominated for IRPA Try of the Year for 2014

No Irish efforts made the cut we’re afraid, but it’s a more than decent selection all the same.

Five efforts have been put forward by the International Rugby Players’ Association for the best try of the year so far and it’s a nice mix with two from South Africa and one apiece from England, Wales and Canada.

There’s also a nice mix between individual and team tries as the scores from Jamie Roberts, Francis Hougaard and Cornal Hendricks were the result of a collective effort, whereas the tries scored by England’s Jonny May and Magali Harvey from the Canadian women’s team owed much to their individual pace and skill.

They’re all brilliant and all well worth at least one watch, but if pressed we’d probably go for Hougaard’s as not many teams tear the All-Blacks apart like that; as we know only too well, it’s usually the other way around.
