Forget the national anthem or ‘The Fields of Athenry’, there’s no doubting that ‘Shane Long’s on fire’ has been the unofficial song of Euro 2016 for Irish fans so far.
Every English-speaking country at the tournament has their own version of a song that goes to the tune of Gala’s ‘Freed from Desire’ and local DJs in France have recognised it and know that they’re going to fill dancefloors when they blast it out.
Seemingly hundreds of Irish fans gathered in La Plage-Le Club nightclub in Bordeaux on Saturday night after the defeat to Belgium, which didn’t seem to affect the mood too badly.
