With a vast number of condoms available at the Olympic village, the sex factor of London 2012 has been much talked about in recent days. An Ivorian swimmer, Kouassi Brou, can’t wait.
Thanks to a very detailed, and entertaining, piece on ESPN a few days back, we now know that the off-field athletic feats at the Olympics are almost as impressive as the on-track stuff.
The piece reveals that once the 10,000 athletes are done with their events, the village turns into a cross between Galway Rag Week and Project X, with lots of sex, booze and other late-night shenanigans. And the organisers are prepared for the wild antics as they have ordered in 150,000 condoms for the Games, 50,000 more than they had on site for the 2008 Games in Beijing.
Anyway, it seems that one young swimmer is determined to get in on the action. In 2008 Ivorian swimmer Koiassi Brou was just 16, so he was too young for all the partying that was going on around him. This time he is back and ready to enjoy himself.
“In 2008 I was so young and so shy, so I didn’t interact with the women,” the 20-year-old Brou told the Press Association. “But now I’m a big man. So I can try. I will try. If they are beautiful, it’s OK.”
We wish the 50m freestyler all the best, in and out of the pool.
