This might be an old clip, but as it features arguably the funniest footage in the history of athletics, we feel that it simply has to be brought to your attention once again. Enjoy.
With the Olympics getting closer and closer by the day, athletics followers and even casual sports fans who only tune in to track and field every couple of years are growing more and more excited about seeing the world’s best athletes in action in London in a couple of weeks.
And while we can’t wait to see what the likes of Usain Bolt and company have to offer, we doubt there would be many complaints if somebody copied this guy, who didn’t feel the need to jump over a single hurdle in a University 110 metre hurdle race in China a couple of years back.
Having failed to negotiate the opening two hurdles, the athlete in question decides to refrain from jumping and instead casts the remaining hurdles aside in impressive fashion until coming unstuck before the finish and ruining any chances the two opponents immediately to his right had of winning the race while he was at it.
While his technique is open to question, one certainly can’t doubt his heart and besides, the two lads he hindered didn’t seem too bothered about it, so there was nothing much to worry about afterwards
We would pay a lot of money for the privilege of watching the 100 metre final in London next month, but we would pay nearly the same amount if someone was willing to repeat what this guy did on the biggest stage of all.
We could go on about it for ages, but what he did really has to be seen to be believed. Check it out for yourself in the video above.
