In this week's batty bets, we turn our attention to the randy exploits of the athletes in the Olympic Village and a new technological dawn for our government members.
ATHLETES TO BURN THROUGH OLYMPIC VILLAGE’S RUBBERS
Reading up on the randy exploits of Olympians four years ago in Beijing would lead you to believe that the Olympic Village in London this summer would resemble Copper Face Jacks on Steroids (especially the cyclists).
However, while the sex mad Coppers’ punters have to lob their aftershock-soaked euros in to the island’s most over worked condom machine, the most finely tuned athletes on the planet have been handed 150,000 free johnnies and told to go wild.
By dishing out all those willie warmers they’ve essentially set a town full of randy record breakers a target. We make it 6/1 for the Olympians to bonk their way through the consignment. One thing’s for sure; they’ll be burning more than the rubber on the tracks this summer.
FINE GAEL TD TIPPED TO DROP A TAB
Following news that the Oireachtas Commission is set to purchase tablet computers for all members of the Oireachtas as part of their parliamentary work, we’re taking bets on which brand of tablet device will win the tender.
The Apple iPad, with an affordable entry level price tag of €399, is our red-hot 1/3 favourite, ahead of the Samsung Galaxy Tab at 3/1 and the Sony Tablet at 10/1. Other less likely devices according to ourselves include the Blackberry Playbook at 14/1, the HP Slate at 20/1 and the retro-chic mechanical drawing toy, Etch A Sketch, at an unlikely 10,000/1.
The Fine Gael party are the bookies’ 2/1 favourites to be the first parliamentary party to have a member drop and break their tablet device, closely followed by coalition partners Labour at 3/1. We’re also offering odds of 33/1 for any TD to be officially reprimanded for “doing a Mike Soden” (i.e., viewing pornographic material) on their tablet device before the end of 2012.
