The Friday Flutter: Arsenal, Kilkenny and Gareth Bale

After a week off for the international break the Friday Flutter is back. Last time out our 9/1 treble landed. Fingers crossed for another good Friday, eh?

Due to the mayhem that an international football break brings to both the world of sport and our schedules, the Friday Flutter never made it to press last week. The week before our bet on Wales, St Thomas’ and Everton landed, adding to our bank balance, so we hope we haven’t cooled off while we dealt with all things Trap for the last week.

This week’s bet should net you about 15/2 if you shop around.

Arsenal v Reading, four or more goals, 11/10

We are a little concerned that, for Nigel Adkins first game in charge, the visitors may be a little cautious and tighten up at the back but even if the Royals have sharpened up, we still expect goals to flow here.

In the two games between these two sides this season (one Capital One Cup, one league game) there has been 19 goals. Nineteen! Admittedly there was one period of extra time in there but still, these teams are so generous at the back, Sir Mix-a-lot likes them. We’d be very surprised if this game didn’t do the business for us on our favourite of bets.

Kilkenny (-4) to beat Cork, Evens

With Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League tighter than a Cypriot ATM all three games in the round this weekend have a lot riding on them.

We won’t get in to the intricacies of it here, even if we fully understood them, but what we do know is that the Cats need a win. And at Nowlan Park they will get that win. JBM’s Cork need it too but with a callow team, shorn of William Egan and Tom Kenny to boot, we can only see Cody’s men having a solid enough win in this one.

Gareth Bale to score at anytime v Swansea, Evens

Back amongst the goals in midweek for Wales, the Welsh wizard look a decent price for this anytime bet. Swansea have been leaky enough at the back since winning the Capital One Cup and if anyone is going to keep Spurs faltering Champions League hopes on track it is Bale.
