Darts legend Sid Waddell passes away

Darts commentary great Sid Waddell has passed away aged 72.

Waddell had been fighting bowel cancer since last September and the news of his death was confirmed this morning.

Waddell was the main commentator on Sky Sports' coverage of PDC darts events since 1994 and was known for his colourful and unique style.

Some of the Geordie’s famous one-liners include "He's not just an underdog, he's an underpuppy" when talking about Keith Deller’s chances of beating Eric Bristow(Deller won) in the Embassy World Darts final in 1983 or his effusive praise of Phil “The Power” Taylor with “Taylor could land a Boeing 747 on a kayak.”

Waddell’s colourful commentary was a big part of the sport and many fans will miss the great commentator as he steps on to the big oche in the sky.
