Formula One camera crews will have to film from the pit wall if they want to catch the action from team mechanics following an incident at the German Grand Prix yesterday.

While changing a set of tyres on Mark Webber’s Red Bull Renault, the rear left wheel flies off the car and rolls down pit lane striking cameraman Paul Allen. Allen was left with a broken collarbone and two broken ribs after the incident. Ouch…
Well, according to the big wigs in F1, this will (hopefully) be the last time anything like this will happen. New rules will be brought in for the Hungarian Grand Prix in three weeks time will see camera crews having to set up on the pit wall alongside photographers.
Until now, a maximum of six camera crews were allowed full access of the pit areas for filming, but that will change for the upcoming and subsequent races. It’s sure to make working on pit road a bit safer, but we’re a tad worried it might take away from the action. Probably not, but time will tell.
