Youngster Guan Tianlang has become the youngest player ever to make the cut at Augusta, even after a one-shot penalty
By Adrian Collins
Despite receiving a one-shot penalty, amateur and 14-year-old golf prodigy Guan Tianlang has made the cut at Augusta.
He got a penalty on the 17th hole for slow play, when he took a long time to take his shot, but that didn't hold him back from making it through to the weekend.
He doesn't seem to upset about that, despite being one of the few players to have ever been penalised for slow play at the Masters.
Even if he were to falter now though, it's an incredible achievement for the teenager to make it this far, and back in China, he's been creating a lot of buzz on the social networks, where his fellow golfers and fans alike have been heaping praise on him.
According to The Independent, Linag Wenchong, the top-ranked golfer in China wrote "Your future, the future of Chinese golf, the world's No. 1, everything is possible" on his Weibo account, the equivalent of Twitter.
Certainly, there'll be plenty of people watching back home this weekend as a result, to see how he handles the pressure.
