We’re 99.9 per cent certain that this is just an elaborate April Fool’s Prank on behalf of Bubba Watson and Oakley but we don’t really care because it’s absolutely brilliant.
Bubba Watson is without a doubt one of our favourite personalities on the golf circuit.
He’s colourful, he’s not afraid to speak his mind, he’s emotional, he pulls off what seem like impossible shots with an unconventional swing and he has appeared in some hilarious music videos along with Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan and Ben Crane as part of The Golf Boys.
Our latest reason to love Bubba is his role in ‘Bubba’s Hover’ a video purporting to be a promotional exercise for a new golf-hovercart from Watson’s sponsors Oakley.
In their own words, Bubba and Oakley were looking to improve the traditional golf cart concept and take away some of the limitations and came up with the world's first hovercraft golf cart – the BW1 – that, using hovercraft technology, is able to glide over any terrain, including grass, sand, and water.
While it would be unbelievable and absolutely brilliant if these were real, we don’t expect to see Bubba or any other golfer using them in the near future, but fair play to Watson and Oakley for the amount of effort that went into it.
Well played lads, well played.
Thanks to Nathan Miller for giving us the heads up on this one.
