Irish golfer David Feherty is now a well-known commentator on the game Stateside. He is lucky he still has a career after this stunt.

We’ve all seen the Lottery ad where the guy promises to let a blindfolded golfer tee a ball off his face. We laughed and then moved on. It seems Irish golfer David Feherty saw it and decided it was a great idea.

The Down native is now a pretty big name in the US, as the Yanks love his style of commentary which mixes knowledge of the game with a decent sense of humour. In fact, so well known is the one-time Ryder Cup player that he has been granted the greatest honour America can bestow; his own TV show.

Imaginatively titled ‘Feherty’ it is a chat show with the Irishman spending some time with some of golf’s biggest names. John Daly was on the season finale this week and to send the show off in style, Feherty agreed to let Daly drive a ball off his face.

Yes, the man known as ‘Wild Thing’, the man almost as famous for his four marriages and multiple off-course issues as he is for his two Major titles, was the golfer that Feherty saw and went ‘yes, hit a ball off a tee I will hold between my teeth’.

Just remember kids, and adults, don’t try this at home.
