They say three’s a charm and so it is proving at Harold’s Cross this week with big wins and bets coming off in threes this week.
At Tuesday night’s meeting trainer Liam O’Rourke landed a hat-trick of successes. Ballymac First, Kish Commodore and Jake Bimbo all crossed first to make it a very good night for him but others were also finding magic in the number three.
From the 11 races an incredible five returned winning trio bets with payouts of over €100. Trios, in case you have forgotten, are when you select the top three to finish in the correct order. It’s not easy but if you can manage it, it’s very profitable.
The biggest was landed by Mary Carr who collected €439.50 from her selection in race nine. What’s even more remarkable about that win is that Mary also collected a winning trio, this time for €139.20, in race six.
As if that wasn’t enough luck for one night, Mary was also the owner of the winning dog from race six, Glown Kate, and it was trained by her husband Dan. We reckon it was party time in the Carr household on Tuesday night.
But others got in on the act too. Three other fortunate, or very skilled, punters collected amounts of €134.20, €277.50 and €201.70 for their successful trio selections on Tuesday, while one other person almost broke the €100 mark with a trio win worth €99.50.
We don’t know about you, but we are heading down to Harold’s Cross next week in the hope of getting some of that type of luck ourselves.
