The World University Games continued yesterday in Kazan, and while there was joy for the swimming camp, the footballers suffered a cruel defeat

The football team had drawn 0-0 with France in their quarter-final and after extra-time, it had to be decided by penalties, which resulted in a 4-3 loss for the Irish. It's certainly a cruel way to go out, but they had performed fantastically up to this point with JOE sponsored Tom King in their ranks, and we're certainly very proud of the lads here at JOE. That will be little consolation to them however, as they were totally dejected at the end of the shootout.

However, there was joy in the swimming events as Fiona Doyle won a silver in the 100m Breaststroke final, a truly fantastic achievement.

With more events taking place today, we'll be keeping an eye out for how all the athletes get on.
