Here’s the GAA GPA hurling All-Star team for 2014

That’s a pretty decent looking team in fairness.

That’s a pretty decent looking team in fairness.

The footballers knew in advance who’d be getting the big prizes at the All-Star awards in the Convention Centre in Dublin tonight, but the hurlers in attendance faced an anxious wait before finding out if they made the cut in the GAA GPA hurling All-Star team for 2014.

In the end, defeated All-Ireland finalists Tipperary ended up with seven representatives to Kilkenny’s six, with two Limerick players, Seamus Hickey and Shane Dowling making up the selection. Kilkenny, however, did have the Hurler of the Year in midfielder Richie Hogan, a thoroughly deserved award for the Danesfort man, while Tipperary’s Cathal Barrett picked up the Young Hurler of the Year award.
