We don’t know how mountain biker Cam Zink emerged from this spectacular crash with only a few bumps and bruises, but he was just fine afterwards thank God.
According to Eurosport’s World of Sport, Zink was defending his title in the Red Bull Rampage event in Zion National Park in Utah last weekend and was attempting to fly over an 80 foot gap onto a tiny ramp after building up some serious pace from the top of a canyon above.
The stunt soon went horribly wrong for Zink as he lost balance and became separated from his bike halfway through his jump and landed with some amount of force on the other side of the ramp.
Onlookers rushed to Zink’s aid and although he looked in serious pain, he emerged with only bruised heels for his troubles and even posted his own video of the event on his Facebook page under the title ‘So you wanna see something gnarly?'
Zink added: "I was scared for my life and can't believe my legs and knees are intact. With five knee surgeries, two broken feet and a having a rod in my tibia prior to this crash I guess I'm doin (sic) ok if this 80 foot bail to flat only bruised my heels."
Zink had every right to be scared for his life as you’ll see in the video above and though we’re sure he’ll be back in the saddle before too long, he might leave it a few weeks before he tries anything as risky as this again.
