Dublin gears up for Samsung Run Dublin @ Night

Up to 5,000 people are expected to don their finest hi-vis gear for the Samsung Run Dublin @ Night, a 10k run coming to the capital on 29 April.

Samsung Ireland and Dublin City Council today announced details of a the city centre event to mark the 2012 Olympic Games ‘Samsung Run Dublin @ Night’.

The 10k run will commence on Sunday 29 April at 8.30 and will take in some of Dublin’s most iconic and historic landmarks, including the GPO, the Custom House, the Convention Centre and the new Samuel Beckett Bridge.

While they cool down after the event, participants can also look forward to music and entertainment at a post-race event at Trinity College. As a worldwide partner of the London Olympics 2012, Samsung, together with event partner Dublin City Council, are aiming to bring some of the sprit and excitement of the Games to Ireland.

Commenting on the event, Gary Twohig, General Manager, Samsung Telecommunication & Networks Ireland, said “As a Dubliner, I am very proud to be involved with this special event. Dublin is a beautiful city and the opportunity to experience it by night in this unique way should not be missed. Furthermore, the Samsung Run Dublin@Night 10K is sure to bring some of the spirit of the Olympics to Dublin.”

Lord Mayor of Dublin Andrew Montague added: “I am delighted to be associated with this event. Any activity which gets Dubliners out running through our historic streets is to be welcomed. It is a great initiative. I commend Dublin City Council and Samsung Ireland and look forward to the main event on April 29th”.
