Check out Gael Monfils’ unbelievable trick shot at the US Open. Unfortunately for the Frenchman, he didn’t even win the point.

Everyone has seen Roger Federer’s famous trick shot in the US Open semi-final against Novak Djokovic a couple of years back, but the Swiss was arguably outdone in the spectacular stakes by erratic Frenchman Gael Monfils in his second round match against Juan Carlos Ferrero earlier this week.

Under extreme pressure from the Spaniard, seventh seed Monfils leapt high into the air and performed some sort of no-look, behind the back shot to keep the rally alive.

Although the ball was clearly going out, Ferrero graciously ensured that the shot will go down in folklore by keeping the ball alive and smashing it down emphatically to win the point.

Ferrero went on to win the match after five sets, although Monfils’ shot is likely to be remembered for far longer than the fact that he went out in the second round.
