In the wonderful world of US sports the media get great access. Last night, they even managed to score an interview with Chewbacca. Yep, that Chewbacca.

Now we all know that Star Wars getting re-released yet again, this time in 3D, and as part of the promotional push the Detroit Pistons turned the visit of the New Jersey Nets last night into ‘Star Wars’ night.

People came dressed as Stormtroopers, kids played with light sabres and during a time-out in the third quarter, Fox Sports decided to interview Chewbacca and ask him his views on the game.

Somewhat hampered by his inability to speak, the big fella was unable to give any real analysis of the game but he was still entertaining to watch. A bit like Jamie Redknapp on Sky only much, much hairier.

Fox did salvage one moment of genius from the ill-advised interview when they gave him the title ‘Wookiee of the Year’. Well it made us laugh anyway.
