Every now and then you come across sportsmanship that goes beyond the call of duty. One teenager in Texas set a great example recently by his act of kindness during a high school basketball game.

Mitchell Marcus has a development disability so offers his support as a team manager of the Coronado High School basketball team in El Paso. A huge fan of the game, his enthusiasm has a great effect on those around him, while his mother goes to watch every game.
For the final game of the season against Franklin High, coach Peter Morales offered Mitchell the chance of a lifetime by telling his to get into his gear and get ready, he was going to play in the game.
Despite the best efforts of his teammates, it appeared that Mitchell was going to fail to score, with the crowd almost willing the ball into the net.
Mitchell was frustrated with his dropped passes and failed shots, but in one of the finest moments of sportsmanship, Franklin High’s Jonathan Montanez called out to Mitchell, gave him the ball and he finally got his score.
Needless to say the crowd went wild, spilling onto the court in appreciation. Coronado were already 14 points to the good, but the score was celebrated like a Championship winner, and rightly so.
A real heart-warming scene, with Mitchell’s mother claiming afterwards that she thinks she will “cry for the rest of her life”.
