We’ve seen dunks like this before in dunk contests but we don’t think we have ever seen one in a real game.
Danilo Gallinari is an Italian who plays for the Denver Nuggets and last night, in a game against the Memphis Grizzlies, he did something pretty special.
The big fella spotted that the space under the hoop was wide open so he opted for the rarely seen alley-oop to himself.
He flicked the ball over the defender to the backboard, sprinted past the befuddled Grizzly and then timed his jump to slam home the basket.
That he did it in a tight game, in the fourth quarter, makes it even more incredible. That it was a guy like Gallinari, and not a LeBron or Durant, is even stranger.
Perhaps inspired by this moment of magic by Gallinari, the Nuggets went on to win too, 99-94.
And for those who say he travelled, well, we’ll let him away with it, even if it is very close.
