Video: Seven-year old child with brain cancer scores touchdown for his favourite team

If this doesn’t bring a tear to your eye, we don’t know what will. This is really touching stuff and a classy, classy gesture from the Nebraska Cornhuskers college football team.

Seven year old Jack Hoffman, who has been suffering from brain cancer, yesterday got the chance to take to the field with his favourite team, the Nebraska Cornhuskers college football team, and better yet, he got to score a touchdown with a helping hand from his heroes.

According to SB Nation, Jack developed brain cancer in August 2011 and he had surgery to remove a tumour later that year. Around that time he developed a relationship with Nebraska running back Rex Burhead and he has been close to the team since, which enabled yesterday’s opportunity to develop.

After receiving the ball from quarter-back Taylor Martinez, Jack, given his own Nebraska uniform with the number 22, ran the ball all the way into the endzone from 70 yards for a touchdown and was then engulfed by players from both sides, who hoisted him on their shoulders in celebration while the crowd gave Jack a rapturous reception.

Sometimes there are gestures that can restore your faith in sport and in humanity and this is one of them.
