Video: Turning off the TV during the Super Bowl? Bad idea...
Remember a few months back when US talk show host Jimmy Kimmel implored his viewers to disappoint their children with purposely terrible Christmas gifts? Now they're ruining the Super Bowl.
Back in December, Kimmel asked viewers to allow their children to open one present pre-Christmas, as long as it was filmed by parents on a camcorder. The cruel twist was that the presents would have to be the most mundane, non-exciting gifts imaginable.
This time around, Kimmel's latest YouTube challenge was for viewers to unplug or turn off the TV at pivotal moments during last Sunday's Super Bowl. The reactions of the outraged menfolk are understandable but also a little terrifying.
It's a cruel, cruel prank, although this writer once did it to a female friend years ago that wanted to see if Will Young or Gareth Gates would be announced winner of Pop Idol*. All we can remember was that the reaction was pretty hilarious although if anyone tries it on us during Euro 2012, there will be hell to pay.
*Will Young won, apparently.
