Video: Your very cool NBA play of the day
As we get closer to the Finals, the quality of play gets higher and higher. This slick move by Rajon Rondo was the best we’ve seen in a while.
At the moment LeBron James’ Miami Heat are trying to get past the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals as King James bids to get that all important first championship ring.
But the Celtics are the very definition of a grizzled veteran squad and with the series poised at 2-0 in the Heat’s favour, Boston were always going to put in a big performance on home turf last night. So it proved as they won 101-91 and we should be set for a fascinating series now with both teams off the mark.
But the Celtics aren’t all grit, aging bones and never-say-die attitude. Their point guard Rajon Rondo is the very definition of mercurial. At times, like in Game 2 against the Heat when he scored 44 points, he is the best in the business. On other nights he seems disinterested and Doc Rivers’ team need him tuned in every night.
He certainly was last night. He might 'only' have scored 21 but he also scored the basket of a game, set up by a sublime fake behind-the-back pass. Game 4 is on Sunday night. It should be a cracker.
