It's been six years since singer-songwriter Damien Rice has released his last album, so what's he been up to? He's been getting very hairy apparently.

The mopey but incredibly talented artist is a tireless charity campaigner and has contributed towards worthy causes such as Songs for Tibet and the Enough Project, which supports women's right in the Congo. However, having seen our first glimpse of Rice in many years, we also said "Enough!" after seeing his new look.

Appearing and performing during the Cinema For Peace event for the Haitian Relief Organisation in LA last week, Rice was part of a crowd that included A-listers such as the curvaceous Salma Hayek yet he steadfastly refused to get even a little dolled up.

Although it's cruel to say that the singer may have been going for a 'Vietnamese POW chic' look, he really does resemble the actor Jeremy Davies from the Christian Bale drama Rescue Dawn. Take a look below:

Having had his beautiful ballad Cannonball destroyed in lucrative fashion by the most unattractive girl group of all time
(X Factor winners Little Mix), you wouldn't imagine Rice is hard up for a bit of cash.

Indeed, during the auction portion of the charity night, the singer ponied up a staggering €500,000 to buy a guitar that once belonged to Bono.

While the event raised $5 million, in part due to the generosity of the Kildare man, surely people would've bid millions purely if Rice had promised to get a full haircut and shave on stage instead? In conclusion, Rice seems to be a great guy, yet his newfound distrust of scissors has gone on long enough.
