Trendspotting: Earn your stripes with our pick of this season's trend

If the first few weeks of 2012 have taught us anything, it's that stripes are here to stay. Here's how to stay ahead of the curve.

Towards the tail end of 2011, nautical-inspired Breton stripes made a huge splash, being primarily used for various styles of knitwear in colour schemes that deviated little from navy, white or red.

Already in 2012, however, we're seeing designers getting a little more creative, with a huge base of colours and styles of apparel to ensure that stripes are likely to reign from the summer onwards.
