Golden Globe nominee Colin Firth's stoic, understated style

Golden Globe nominee Colin Firth is lauded and lusted over across the world, yet it's no great challenge to mimic the period heart-throb's stylish appeal.

Elle Actor of the Year Colin Firth has always brought that little bit extra to each production he shows up in, while women the world over adore him. It all started in the acclaimed BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, playing the part of Mr Darcy - with a wet t-shirt throwing Mr. Firth into period drama sex-symbol status.

Firth's incarnation of the classic Austen character was so iconic, that he did it all over again with a modern twist as the loveable lawyer Mark Darcy, in Bridget Jones Diary, sharing the screen with Hollywood starlet Renee Zellweger.

It was 2009 that saw the 50-year-oldâ€™s iconic status celebrated in the hands of the meticulous designer Tom Ford, for Ford's directorial debut, A Single Man, which earned the actor earn a coveted BAFTA and a performance that showcased precisely why his mere presence in productions make them instantly more rewarding.

2011 seems to be shaping up to being much the same for Firth with his role as King George VI in The Kings Speech, which has him tipped to scoop up a well deserved Academy Award and has already earned a Golden Globe nod. All this and Firth's style exudes the effortless, unassuming, quietly witty character he is loved for, from his dishevelled locks to his loosely-done collar- the guy is a pro!
