This year (or last year, depending on when you read this) was a pretty damn good year for gaming, but there are plenty more great titles in store for 2015.
So we thought we’d give you a look at seven games we’re absolutely dying to play in 2015.
Assassin’s Creed Victory*
Why? Well, firstly, the game is set in Victorian era London around the time that Jack The Ripper was knifing prostitutes left, right and centre throughout the city. So we’re intrigued as to how Jack might fit into the game and whether or not we’ll be tasked with stopping him. We’re also curious as to what lessons Ubisoft have learned from the not-so-smooth release of Assassin’s Creed Unity earlier in 2014.
*We’re not really supposed to know anything about Victory, but some details leaked via Kotaku.com earlier this month and so we’re counting it anyway, because we can. So there…
Battlefield Hardline
Why? Who doesn’t want to relive their childhood days of playing Cops and Robbers? It was the only thing we did during our Primary School lunch breaks (well, along with Pogs, trading Panini football stickers and Pokémon cards – you know yourself).
The Order: 1886
Why? We’ve had a little taste of what’s to come from The Order: 1886 (albeit, a very, VERY brief taste) and we have to say, it’s a great idea and one that we can’t wait to flesh out. The game sees an order of elite knights fighting against half man, half animal monsters in an alternate history. It looks like it’s filled with mystery, intrigue and a whole load of fighting. Sounds like JOE’s cup of tea, so…
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege
Why? It’s been TOO LONG since we’ve played a Rainbow Six game (we remember renting the first game for weeks at a time back in the late 90’s). In fact, it has been nearly seven years since we got a fresh Rainbow Six console game in the form of Vegas 2, which we LOVED. So naturally, we’re really looking forward to Siege.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Why? After playing Ground Zeros, we because fixated with Snake once again after all these years. We also remembered the cardboard boxes and we really want to see what a next-gen cardboard box looks like *what a time to be alive*… In all seriousness, it’s great to get another fresh update from a franchise we grew up with, but if we find ourselves in another Psycho Mantis style-fight we’ll just give up.
Batman Arkham Knight
Why? Well, seeing as Arkham Asylum and Arkham City were two of our all-time favourite games (sorry Arkham Origins) and the fact that we’re big Batman buffs here in the office (go on, ask us what Batman’s son’s name is… we dare you), we’re really excited about finding out the identity of Arkham Knight, who is in fact a villain and not a new fancy name for Batman.
Star Wars Battlefront
Why? Not only was the 2004 original one of the best games ever made in any Star Wars fan’s highly biased opinion, and JOE’s, the upcoming EA/Dice version is expected to be just as good (if and when it’s released). Hopefully the lads at Disney don’t mess things up! Only time will tell.
