After Battlefield 3 sold over 10 million copies last year, it appeared as though EA had finally made ground against the unseemingly unstoppable Call of Duty series. The next step? A new Medal of Honor.
Entitled 'Warfighter', the latest in the military franchise is set to follow in the footsteps of the much hyped 2010 release Medal of Honor, which received reasonable reviews upon release and arguably failed to live up to many fans' hopes.
This time around the series is powered by Battlefield 3's Frostbite 2 engine and features a globe-spanning campaign featuring not just US Tier 1 operatives but also the British SAS, the German KSK and Poland's GROM. In total, 12 countries are to feature in the game.
Although the above trailer does mention that missions will largely be based on 'actual events', don't get too excited at the prospect of taking on Osama bin Laden's Pakistani compound - developers Danger Close have already said "That's not our story to tell. That's 'family business' to [the Tier 1 operatives]... It's been an interesting exercise learning what's okay and what's not okay."
Enjoy the admittedly fantastic clip above and get your pre-orders ready - Warfighter heads to Irish stores on October 26.
