Draw Something app phenomenon gets its own TV show
Are you still playing the Draw Something app or like us, did you get bored of it after an addictive first week? Well rather surprisingly, it's now getting its own TV show.
Though the Zynga app is little more than 21st century Pictionary, it has evidently got more pulling power than we'd imagined, as US TV executives have decided to greenlight the TV version of the app.
According to The Wrap, the app - which has had over 50 million downloads in less than two months since release - will be coming to US network CBS, who have purchased a pilot episode.
If you've never played the game, it basically involves two players alternating turns to take typically crude drawings of a selection of three options suggested by the app. After picking one (each is rated by difficulty, with higher points for harder suggestions to draw), the player who has to guess watches the image being drawn and can guess at any time.
Apparently the TV series will feature regular users and celebrities competing in teams to do just that. The show itself will be a joint production of Sony Pictures Television and the group behind those bloody endless Kardashians TV shows, Ryan Seacrest Productions.
No air date has yet been set but surprisingly, similar TV shows have hit the US in the past, with the aforementioned Pictionary game having a children's TV version in 1989 and an adults version later in 1997.
