Facebook continues to deny "privacy issue" reports
Facebook are continuing to deny that they made messages intended for private use between users of the social networking site, public – despite numerous claims otherwise.
“A small number of users raised concerns after what they believed to be private messages appeared on their timeline. Our engineers investigated these reports and found that the messages were older wall posts that had always been visible on the users’ profile pages,” said a statement from the company.
Some users seemed to be having issues with the years 2007 and 2008, saying chat messages they had from then were appearing on their page as if they were public posts. So if you were having an affair back then and it is true, you’re well and truly f**ked. Not so continued the statement, “Facebook is satisfied that there has been no breach of user privacy.”
Word spread like wildfire on Facebook yesterday and lot of panicked users actually deleted their accounts; for how long exactly remains to be seen. But said claims were still being made today and Mark Zuckerberg and co. will need to get their PR hats on pronto and reassure shareholders, and users of the site, that a clusterf**k such as this doesn’t happen again.
