Rovio unveil their first-ever post-Angry Birds app
Let's face it; Finnish developers Rovio have been playing it fairly safe with multiple versions of Angry Birds but now they've finally unveiled a new original IP.
After so may iterations on the biggest app success of all-time, Angry Birds, Finnish developers Rovio have finally decided to see whether or not they can plough similarly fertile ground with a brand new IP. It's called Amazing Alex it's out very soon.
Coming to iPad, Android and iPhone this month, the app centres around its titular hero, a young boy with a passion for building items. The game itself transpired after Rovio purchased the original IP for the game Casey's Contraptions from developers Mystery Coconut and Snappy Touch.
As you can see above, Rovio is keeping the app's gameplay dynamics close to their chest for now. Can they capture lightning in a bottle twice?
So how does the game work? As Rovio themselves explain: "With his boundless imagination, this whiz kid turns everything into adventure!
"From cleaning his room to battling cardboard robots in his backyard, Alex creates amazing chain reactions to get the job done. Now he has some challenges for you! What's the most creative solution YOU can create?"
Nope we're not quite sure how it works either but all eyes will be on Alex when the app is released on an as-yet unspecified July date.

Will it be as successful as AB! Who knows....
