The new Facebook app that tells you who has cut you out

Facebook can be a minefield when it comes to relationships and friendships. You may not know your girlfriend’s quiet younger brother but if he sends you a friend request on Facebook and you don’t accept it, all hell could break loose. Likewise if a distant cousin sends you one or one of your old classmates.

‘No problem,’ you think. ‘Sure I can always just defriend them in a few days and they won’t even notice.’

Unfortunately the days of the sneaky defriend could soon be over if a new browser add-on has anything to do with it.

The Daily Mail reports that ‘Unfriend Finder’ has been growing in popularity over the past few weeks and at present, the simple non-spamming script, has been downloaded over 40million times. That’s a lot of people who are paranoid about being defriended…

The script is free and can be installed in any internet browser. How does it work? Basically Unfriend Finder tells you when you have been defriended. Unfriend Finder appears as a red counter in the menu bar of your browser which changes to ‘-1’ the second someone defriends you on Facebook.

Oh no. Normally the sneaky defriend is the perfect way to cull off friendships that have grown apart, or to get rid of your psychotic ex-girlfriend when a healthy amount of time has passed.

The Unfriend Finder website describes the script as a way to tell you who your ‘unfriends’ are. The term ‘unfriend’ refers to “people who were previously your friend but have either deactivated their account or have removed you from their friend list.”

“Unfriend Finder will also tell you people you have requested friendship with and who has declined your friend request,” states the website.

Would you use Unfriend Finder? And, more importantly, do you honestly care if someone defriends you on Facebook?
