Video: The future of video gaming might just involve a treadmill

We're fairly sure we've just seen the future of gaming, and it looks like we'll be using treadmills and goggles

We've all stood up and yelled at the TV when things aren't going right for us in a game, sometimes we even lean to the left or the right when we're particularly engrossed in a racing game, but the combination of a virtual reality headset with a treadmill might just mean that those movements might actually be useful for something.

The Omni by Virtuix is a fully omni-directional treadmill and, when paired with the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset, it makes for a fully immersive gaming experience which demands that you walk, run and turn around your environment, all while on a treadmill. Currently, the Omni is still in the fund raising phase, with a Kickstarter campaign to get the whole thing up and running, with an expected price of somewhere between $400-600, which works out between €300-450 plus what we imagine to be a fairly hefty postage and packaging charge.

If you got us one of these and a copy of Modern Warfare, we're sure that we'd be pretty much sorted for the rest of our lives. FIFA will be a hell of a lot more tiring though.
