The iOS app has been out for a while, but Vine is finally here for Android users, with a few small differences
By Adrian Collins
Twitter have learned from their mistake of taking too long to make an Android app and have gotten their asses in gear on a Vine app, which we didn't really have to wait too long for.
It's already hit over 100,000 downloads in just one day, so we're fairly sure that this will be a pretty big success no matter what happens.
In case you're not familiar with Vine, it allows you to capture six seconds of video and share it through social media, essentially, it's the Twitter of video. For example, here's an extremely shaky video of the coveted JOE dart board, where all the serious work gets done.
We're sorry for all the shaking, but it's damn hard to throw darts and video it at the same time. We've only got two hands.
Anyway, it seems, the Android app isn't exactly the same as the iPhone ones, and the lads at Mashable have had time to have a quick run through of how it's different.
Firstly, you can't share to Facebook, only Twitter or Vine itself, and as yet, Android devices can't use the front camera, so no selfie Vines for the moment.
It's also apparently a little bit slower (it was noticeably not that quick on our Galaxy S4), and it doesn't allow you to share another Vine that pops up on your feed, but we can't imagine these problems will persist as the app becomes more popular.
Even with those issues, it's still great news for us Android users, so we expect to see a lot more Vines over the summer from you lads.
