The Rugby World Cup final may have been a bit of a let-down but a late incident of foul play is now causing a storm.

It was noted that the All Blacks were none too warm to the French after the game, with little to no embracing between the teams and no kindly words in the post-match speeches.

Now it seems that the reason for that frostiness was die to some very nasty work by Aurelien Rougerieon Richie McCaw just before the final whistle.

As you can see in the above video, the Frenchman flies in with what looks like a deliberate headbutt on a prone McCaw and then he appears to eye-gouge the Kiwi captain.

Now New Zealand don’t care. They are still on the lash and will be for the foreseeable future. But the IRB, so quick to ridiculously punish the French for daring to step up to the Haka, should step in and hit the Frenchman hard.
