Irish woman gets €38,000 holiday payout for tangle with Italian sun lounger
Possibly the worst thing that could happen when you go on a sun holiday is to get seriously injured on the first day. So, you can feel Irish woman, Mary Lee’s pain when that happened to her.
The elderly widow packed herself off to Italy in 2008, but everything turned sour pretty quickly. The spritely 74-year-old Mary was sitting by the pool at her four star hotel near Brescia when the sun lounger collapsed.
Poor old Mary smacked her head off the concrete and was cooped up in her lovely hotel room for the rest of the trip.
But, before begin to feel too sorry for Mary, she’s managed to get her own back. Lee, of Clongill, Donaghpatrick, Navan, Co Meath, sued her travel agency.
She told the court that she had sustained a severe tissue injury to her head, neck, shoulders and lower back.
Judge Jacqueline Linnane awarded the €38,000 in damages against the agency, and said the hotel is liable to pay them the damages in turn.
So, it’s all turned out rosy for Mary, thankfully, Now, where’s that wonky office chair?
