Another Costa ship in trouble - fire damaged liner adrift in Indian Ocean

Cruise ships are gettingĀ  bad rap since the Costa Concordia's accident, but now the same company is at it again. One of their liners is ablaze and adrift off an Italian island.

The Costa Allegra, a sister ship of the Concordia which claimed at least 25 lives, is now drifting in the vast expanse of water in the Indian ocean after fighting off a fire that has disabled the ship.

With over 1,000 passengers on board this is probably not what the company or cruise liners in general needed. Most of the passengers were probably worried about travelling on a Costa liner before they even set off.

The fire began in the electrical room but has now been extinguished. A whole host of rescue ships and aircraft are now en route to help the stricken ship.

The liner is currently drifting about 200 miles of the Seychelle after leaving Madagascar at the weekend.

No one was hurt in the fire and it was contained to the electrical room, but that will do little to assuage the fear and panic amongst passengers.
