A new company is claiming to offer free calls and texts to any network for €10 a month… once you’re between 18 and 22. The offer has attracted equal interest and criticism.

The website offering the deal, 48months.ie, has created a lot of discussion on Twitter and Irish forums. The plan will get complete coverage for anyone in the 48 months between their 18th and 23rd birthdays.

The company seems pretty damn excited about 18 to 22-year-olds. “Things happen when you turn 18. Good things. The 48 months between your 18th and 22nd birthday are the most interesting, most memorable months ever. This is a time to enjoy yourself. A time when serious can wait. It’s a time to go conquer stuff,” the website says.

The site also proudly claims that if you’re misfortunate enough to have aged then you might be disappointed. The website says that its ‘not for everybody’. So, exclusivity it is then. But is it legal? Several commentators have already raised concerns that the offer may infringe equality laws.

The company appears to be operating as part of the Telfonica group. it might be a good deal for those who qualify to be flying pretty close to the wind by giving anyone outside the narrow age bracket the two fingers.
