Presidential hopeful Gay Mitchell and Taoiseach Enda Kenny took some time out of their ‘busy’ day to go ‘canvassing’ in a sex shop.
We knew this was going to be a dirty race but we didn’t think it would get this risqué. For once, the low-blows about other candidates were kept to a minimum and instead Gay and Enda went looking for votes in the Ann Summers on Cruise’s Street, Limerick.
This will see Enda and Gay becoming the first Irish political figures to enter a sex shop, at least while on the job, and while being photographed. There was nothing to hide in the eyes of Enda who boldly strode over the threshold and as for Gay, well, lets just say his wife, who was with them, didn’t look too impressed.
A small crowed gathered before the pair went where no political man has gone before, and as they entered, a loud roar erupted. However, that didn’t faze the lads. You’d think, two middle aged men heading into a lingerie shop would turn out like the episode of Father Ted, where the Band of Fathers try to escape the dreaded lingerie section. But not Gay and Enda.
The shop’s worker was a tad surprised to see the two men entering her emporium of delights. "I've never seen a Taoiseach in a place like this before," said Debbie Cropper, Ann Summers worker. But Gay can rest easy tonight, as he has secured at least one more vote. Enda and Gay swiftly left the shop before a right rollicking from the wife ensued.
We can’t imagine any of the other candidates doing such lewd acts to garner votes. Or would they? Well, sex does sell.
