The whole cast of How I Met Your Mother have signed up for a ninth and finale season despite setbacks

CBS has renewed long running comedy sitcom How I Met Your Mother for the ninth season. This season will be the show’s last and will finally reveal who Ted will end up with, although we kind of stopped caring and just got caught up in the antics of the rest of the cast.
According to Entertainment Weekly, there were doubts whether the season would go ahead, as the cast contracts expired at the end of the eighth season. Reportedly Jason Segal, who plays Marshall, was most reluctant to complete the show.
The whole cast will return, Ted (Josh Radnor), Marshall (Jason Segel), Robin (Cobie Smulders), Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan). The shows creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will also return to finalise the series and give it a satisfying conclusion.
EW reported that Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment president said; “We are excited for Carter, Craig, Pam Fryman and this amazing cast to tell the final chapter and reveal television’s most mysterious mother to some of TV’s most passionate fans.”
She further added; “We‘re thrilled to have the entire and incredibly talented How I Met Your Mother cast back for one final season to bring the series to a proper close,”
How I Met Your Mother averages 7.8 million viewers per episode in the US and the final series is set to air in spring 2014. Apparently it is Quentin Tarantino's favourite TV show, so this news should keep him happy.
