JOE's Transfer wrap-up: Is Frank Lampard heading to the LA Galaxy?

Could Frank Lampard be lining up alongside David Beckham and Robbie Keane at the LA Galaxy? The MLS club’s president hopes so.

"I am a fan of Frank's, I think he is a great player. When I think of Chelsea, I think of Frank Lampard," Galaxy president Tim Leiweke has told Sky Sports News on the possibility of the Blues talisman moving across the pond.

"You should ask him, it took us two years to get David here the first time, we are working on the next DP [Designated player].

With the England international seemingly at loggerheads with young Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas, a move – seemingly unthinkable years back – wouldn’t be out of the question, while the Blues would likely have issues with selling Lampard to a Premier League rival.

"If he does decide to walk away from Chelsea, then of course which team would not want him?" offered Beckham, who signed a new two-year deal with the side earlier this week. “The owners are very persuasive, so of course there is a chance."

One potential hiccup, however, comes in the MLS’ rule that clubs can only grant high-earning wages to three designated players for each team.

The Galaxy are already well catered for after signing Keane last year and extending Beckham’s contract, while we don’t foresee US golden boy and current Everton loanee Landon Donovan leaving anytime soon.

After the Papiss Demba Cisse transfer gave us a rush of blood to the head earlier this week, there have been a troubling of lack of big-money moves in recent days. If Italian sources are to be believed, however, one-time Liverpool and Arsenal target Keisuke Honda of CSKA Moscow could be moving to a rapidly-improving Lazio.

After a barnstorming World Cup for his native Japan in 2010, we’re surprised as to why the 25-year-old playmaker is making the sideways move to the Serie A side, or how Lazio are about to snap him up for a bargain €12 million. The Italian and Russian clubs apparently held a ten-hour meeting yesterday and the decision will come down to the player himself.

QPR tempt unambitious targets with enormous wages

Meanwhile, QPR’s attempts to bolster their defence by signing average players continues apace, as AC Milan reject Taye Taiwo is “very close” to signing for Mark Hughes’ side.

QPR say that they are "waiting for everything to be put into place before we make an official announcement", but it is expected that a six-month deal to bring the Nigerian international to Loftus Road will be completed today.

Another defensive ‘reinforcement’ could be joining the club in the form of Nedum Onuoha, although we have no idea how the Manchester City Academy graduate could pocket an eye-watering £80,000 a week for his service.

What’s that? Nedum’s official ‘advisor/unofficial agent' is Kia Joorabchian, the same guy employed by new QPR boss Mark Hughes? That explains that.

Finally, what good would a transfer column be without a quick update on our oul mucker Carlos Tevez? According to City boss Roberto Mancini, the Argentine will “never” don a Sky Blues shirt again.

"I hope this will finish very quickly. I don't know [the latest],” said the Italian today. "I think he has talked with PSG and Inter, but not Milan. I hope for him everything can finish very quickly."

Don’t we all, Roberto. Don’t we all…
