Donegal footballer Karl Lacey has had a 2012 to remember. It has been so good that it has prompted Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to congratulate Lacey personally.

Lacey, who is a big Arsenal supporter, was surprised to find a letter of congratulations from the Gunners boss for his outstanding 2012.
“I note that you (are) totally committed and dedicated to this sport and that you won the RTE Player of the Year Award in 2012,” Wenger said in the letter.
The award was in fact the GPA Opel ‘Footballer of the Year’, but we can forgive him on that slip. The Four Masters clubman also added his fourth All-Star to his All-Ireland success.
Lacey has been in London, New York and Boston in recent weeks and took to Twitter last night to show his letter from Wenger.
The Arsenal boss is rumoured to be in the market for a top quality defender to bolster his options, someone of the quality of Lacey would fit the bill nicely.
