Oh dear, El Hadji Diouf has gotten himself in a bit of bother
Things had gone a bit quiet on the El Hadji Diouf front since he moved to Doncaster. That’s all changed after he was arrested yesterday.

Things had gone a bit quiet on the El Hadji Diouf front since he moved to Doncaster. That’s all changed after he was arrested yesterday.

Depending on how much interest you pay to life outside the Premier League you may or may not have known that Doncaster Rovers bid farewell to the Championship on Saturday, dropping to League 1 after a thrilling 4-3 defeat to Portsmouth.

Rovers’ recruitment policy of late has been a bit odd, with Pascal Chimbonda and former Liverpool striker El Hadji Diouf heading to the Keepmoat but they didn’t manage to save Sean O’Driscoll’s former team from the drop.

Anyway, Diouf didn’t let a little thing like relegation to the third tier of football get him down (take note Meath fans) so he went out on the town on Saturday, in Manchester to be precise.

At a place called Circle Club the Senegal international hooked up with his former Sunderland tam-mate Anton Ferdinand but their night out didn’t go to plan.

In fact, the night ended with Ferdinand being questioned by police and with Diouf arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

According to reports, a 33-year-old man is in hospital with head and neck injuries and Diouf is one of just five men arrested over the incident. Ferdinand was not arrested but he was questioned by police about the incident.

The Sun are reporting that Diouf himself has a facial injury while a statement from Greater Manchester Police doesn’t shed a whole lot of light on the incident.

“A fight had taken place and a 33-year-old man was injured,” said a spokesman.

“He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries to the side of his head and to the side of his neck, and he remains in a serious but stable condition. Six men were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, five of whom have been bailed until May 23 pending further police inquiries.

“Another man has assisted the investigation, which is ongoing.”

We'll keep you posted on any more developments.
