Roberto Mancini may be gritting his teeth at the return of Carlos Tevez but Sergio Aguero is delighted to have his Argentinian team-mate back in the fold.
Speaking in today’s Sun, the striker said that having last year’s top scorer back in the side was great news.
"Tevez is a big footballer and nobody doubts it. The day he returns [to the team] will be a big day for us.
"I am happy he is back. I think his return could be important for us in the decisive period of this season.
"I prefer things with him in the squad because he is a very important player for us. I spoke a few times with him while he was absent. He is a super professional and it was up to him to decide about his future.”
Now we are not sure that Carlos is a ‘super’ professional, all things considered, but we will let it go as Aguero seems so overjoyed at his compatriots return.
"He has been one of the best forwards in world football over the last few years. City need all the players we have to try and win titles," he added.
And that last part is the crucial part. If Tevez can play even close to what he is capable of the Manchester City could be unstoppable in their march for a first Premier League title. Mancini knows it, and Aguero does too.
A win today over Blackburn would put them five points clear of Manchester United, though Tevez won’t be involved just yet. At least we know he has one fan at the Etihad anyway when he does.
