The Hangover was a great auld film, but doesn't mean we'd try to relive it in. One harebrained Irish criminal who went on a trans-Australian crime spree knows that now.

An Irish man didn't quite see it as something you wouldn't or shouldn't do. Michael Hegarty, along with two younger accomplices, stole credit cards and went on a luxury-filled six week crime spree.

The 27-year-old Meath man posed as the son of rich parents while he stole more credit cards than you could shake a very large stick at.

However, don't worry too much. According to Michael's lawyer it was all good clean fun, more reminiscent of The Hangover than actually serious criminal activity.

The whole escapade came to an end in Sydney earlier this year in January. But, that wasn't before the three criminals managed to stay in several luxury hotels, hire limousines and dine out in gourmet restaurants.

They were caught after Victoria Police launched an operation to nab them. The three men had defrauded people out of a total of $35,000 Australian Dollars.

Instead of being offered a role in the next Hangover film Hegarty received 150 hours of community service and had his 90 day prison sentence suspended for a year.
