And with the transfer rumour mill finally gone quiet, we will sign off for the night. Not much actual business happened but the madness of Odemwingie and the possibility of Kevin Doyle going to Celtic kept us amused. As did these guys. Goodnight, and thanks for staying with us.
And the ones that got away...
Kevin Doyle was a Celtic target but Wolves said no
David Villa remains at Barca
Peter Crouch stays at Stoke
And Peter Odemwingie wins the award for most bizarre story of the night as his trip to QPR to force through a deal from West Brom fell very flat. The striker remains a Baggies player, but we suspect his manager and fans won't be too chuffed with him.
Okay, as it is getting quiet now, here's a recap of the days big moves.
David Beckham has joined PSG
Danny Graham has signed for Sunderland
Arsenal have picked up Nacho Monreal from Malaga
QPR have landed Chris Samba, Jermane Jenas and Andros Townsend
Jack Butland has joined Stoke
Arsenal confirm the Nacho Monreal deal. Quotes from Wenger via the Arsenal website.
“We are delighted that Nacho Monreal has agreed to join us. We have been monitoring him for some time now and are really pleased that we’ve been able to agree this move today. Monreal is a strong left-sided defender with good experience at both club and international level. He is a technically gifted player, a good crosser in the final third and strong in the air. Monreal will add quality to our squad and of course, to our defensive unit. We all look forward to him playing for us.”
All they tell us on the deal is that it is a long-term contract and an undisclosed fee. That's not very helpful.
Like this from Fulham, who have signed Cameroonian midfielder Eyong Enoh on loan from Ajax.
The window is closed but we have a few more bits of news for you yet...
Only five minutes left. Just spare a thought for the awkwardness of Peter Odemwingie walking into the WBA dressing room tomorrow morning. Think post-Christmas party feeling x 1000 as your moment of madness was televised.
Harry on SSN now. Andros Townsend and Jenas deal done. He claims he knows nowt about Odemwingie. Lamenting loss of Ryan Nelson and praising Samba. Lots of 'top, top' references. And with that he is off.
It seems the Monreal deal to Arsenal is all but done. The end of the Andre Santos era...
What's this then?

DOUBLE IRISH NEWS KLAXON: Dean Saunders, Wolves boss, confirms that Celtic made a loan bid for Kevin Doyle but the club refused it. Also did the same when a bid was made for Stephen Ward today by Forest.

The BBC carry what must be a sh*t-stirring message from a reader who says that Southampton boss Pochettino is after his former team-mate Juan Román Riquelme. Now 34, we would love to see it but surely it's nonsense...
QPR have issued a statement saying that they never let Peter Odemwingie into Loftus Road tonight...
The bizarre antics of Odemwingie have even shocked Robbie Savage, who told the BBC: "From a player's perspective, Peter Odemwingie must have a huge pair. To get in your car and drive to a club when you have not had permission to do so is the craziest thing I have ever heard. I have put in a transfer request and told a few lies to get away from a club during my career, but I would never have had the nerve to do that."
Fox Soccer are saying Arsenal want another defender to go with Monreal. We'll believe it when we see it.

QPR new boy Jermaine Jenas didn't get the warmest of welcomes to Loftus Road...
Thanks to TTTclips for the video
Owen Coyle has told the BBC that the rumours of Bolton man Kevin Davies making a move to Scotland means it can only be Celtic who have an interest.
"Kevin is an outstanding man and someone I've got a lot of time for, he is a great skipper.
"If it was a Scottish club, it could only be a club of Celtic's stature. It couldn't be anyone else. I know they have always admired him."
What would Bhoys fans make of that move?
Sky's man in the north-east says a Premier League have triggered West Ham's £3.5m release clause for Diame. Sunderland? Newcastle? Whoe knows but we reckon he will be on the move at some stage tonight.
Everton fans will be disappointed that rumours of a move for Alvaro Negredo proved to be just that. He is in the Sevilla squad tonight for the Copa Del Rey semi-final.
Natalie Sawyer is wearing a dazzling shade of yellow tonight. Really brings out the best in Jim's tie
Talk of Kevin Davies moving on from Bolton, possibly north of the border. Not too many English centre halves would shed a tear should that come to pass
Bryan Swanson doesn't look like he is tiring of his transfer figures on SSN. Impressive. £116 million spent so far we are being told. And hopefully more to come
We don't want to go into QPR overdrive - well we kind of do - but the Peter Odemwingie transfer has taken a bizarre twist. West Brom have issued a press release after seeing their striker turn up at Loftus Road.
"The club can confirm they have held further discussions with QPR today but those talks have so far proven fruitless and no agreement has been reached."
"Albion would also like to make clear that Peter has not been given permission to speak to QPR about a potential move."
Interesting to say the least, the pitch in Jim's voice is getting higher.
And the man himself is on. Jim White looking dapper with his yellow tie. Natalie Sawyer on the other hand doesn't look quite so pleased
Not for a moment are we suggesting that Premier League footballers and reality poles apart, but this quote from Jermaine Jenas is a little puzzling ahead of his move to Loftus Road.
"QPR are a top club". Really? When you say top, you mean bottom, right?
IRISH NEWS KLAXON: According to BBC, Aston Villa say that they are looking to do a loan deal with a promising player who has recently done well in the MLS. We haven't mentioned Robbie in a while, so why not a return to the Midlands.
They hardly mean Andy O'Brien do they?
Just in case you think that Becks is the only player taking a rather large pay-cut, think again. 'Arry has told local radio that QPR signing Chris Samba has taken a 'massive pay-cut' to join the Premier League strugglers. It is only £100,000 a week after all.
How do we know that Liverpool aren't loaning a midfielder to Wigan? Because Suso said so. "I'm making clear that I'm not going on loan to Wigan. I'm really happy in Liverpool and I'll try my best to be playing here every game."
Now.
IRISH NEWS KLAXON: Roy O'Donovan has left Coventry and joined Northampton. Feel free to make your own Cobblers jokes...
IRISH NEWS KLAXON: Shay Given rumoured to be spotted outside of Celtic Park. Make of this what you will...
As they saw in Berlin, fenster geschlossen. Yes, the German transfer window is closed. Lucky live bloggers in Germany...
The odds on Leandro Damiao joining Spurs have plummeted too. Surely AVB won't buy the Brazilian AND Hooper?
All the goalkeeper talk has led some to suggest that Reina is on his way to Arsenal... we're not so sure about that one
Sky showing pics of Odemwingie outside the QPR ground. Lots of time for the deal to be hammered out...
Fulham have signed Stanislav Manolev, a Bulgarian right back, from PSV on loan until the end of the season.
One player not going anywhere it seems is Noel Hunt. Enjoy it Noel.

Coke and Red Bull? Not a great mix we imagine but how about this; Nigel Reo-Coker may be joining the New York Red Bulls.
This may be bad news for Celtic and Norwich as the odds on Gary Hooper joining Spurs has been cut from 9/1 to 6/5. Does anybody actually bet on transfers?
The big Liverpool news that has been much touted on Twitter in the last few minutes is that Maarten Stekelenburg, who last we heard was joining Fulham/stuck on a plane in Rome, is reported to be joining the Reds for £7m. The source for this is a possibly fake Martin Samuel (Daily Mail) Twitter account. Lets just say we wouldn't be getting the Stekelenburg jersey printed up just yet.
Not that we could afford it.
One time England international Matthew Upson is the latest player set to leave Stoke, with Brighton the destination according to the Telegraph.
In moves you couldn't make up, Stephen Warnock has joined namesake Neil at Leeds United. We're all ready for the Warnock v Warnock headlines when they inevitably fall out.
French TV are reporting that Marouane Fellaini could be a PSG player by the end of the day. Blimey. Though, in fairness, so could I technically so that story is a little vague.
The Peter Odemwingie deal is going to be one of the sagas of the night I think. The Mirror say the striker is 'at war' with West Brom after they changed the deal. The Baggies want Junior Hoilett now, as well as cash for Odemwingie. QPR are balking at this so the deal is stalled. Again.
Good news for Villa possibly as the Telegraph report that Wilson Palacios may join from Stoke. He was a good player at Wigan and Spurs so it could be a smart bit of business.
One time Real Madrid player, Argentina midfielder Fernando Gago, has left Valencia to join Argentine champions Velez Sarsfield on loan. At 26, he slips home when you think many European clubs would have liked him.
Sounds like AVB is trying to pull an old Football Manager trick. Spurs play Lyon in the Europa League and the Londoners are trying to nab the French club's striker Lisandro Lopez.
Look away Villa fans. The Guardian say that Belgian whispers suggest that Manchester City fancy taking Christian Benteke off their hands. Lambert and Lerner surely won't allow that, will they?
It seems the Leroy Fer to Everton move might be back on. We know this because the remarkably named FC Twente chairman Joop Munsterman says so.
We're way overdue a Harry Redknapp joke so here you go... a picture from his upcoming press conference...

Mark Hughes has joined Accrington Stanley. Who? Exactly. But it's not the man they know as Sparky. It is, in fact, a Bury defender of same name. We imagine the other Mark Hughes still wakes up in a cold sweat over the Robinho deadline day deal which was four-and-a-haf year ago...
Sky reporter couldn't resist it and went for the 'Sylla gonna need a lorra, lorra luck' line. Five hours to go...
It seems the Stekelenburg deal is off, as Roma can't get a replacement keeper in.
ANOTHER IRISH NEWS KLAXON: Wigan had designs on bringing Aiden McGeady to the Premier League but it seems that won't happen now, according to Sky. Pity that...
IRISH NEWS KLAXON: Karl Sheppard is to return to Shamrock Rovers on loan from Reading a year after joining the English club.
We didn't even know that he was still there but Xisco is finally leaving Newcastle. After three league games for the Magpies, he's on his way Coroba.
And it gives us an excuse to put this video up, which is always a bonus.
Arsenal news as rumours abound that Malaga's left back Nacho Monreal is set to join Arsenal. A Spanish international, he could be just the tickat as Kieran Gibbs is crocked.
IRISH NEWS KLAXON: Stephen Ward may be on his way from Wolves to Nottingham Forest. Half of Twitter say the deal is done, the other half saw that Wolves have accpeted a bid. More as we get it...
Newcastle sign a non-French player shocker. According to the club's site, Kevin Mbabu, a Swiss teenager, hs signed from Servette. The story on the Newcastle site describes him as 'predominately a centre-back'.
And in more moderately interesting goalkeeper news, Maarten Stekelenburg is on his way from Rome to Fulham.
And in other definite news, Tottenham's erratic stopper Heurelho Gomes has joined Hoffenheim on loan.
As for Spurs, Leandro deal now officially 'unlikely'. And West Brom are set to buy Fulham defender Chris Baird.
From Danny Graham's Watford days. Dear oh dear...

Beckham just announced that he is giving all his PSG salary to a children's charity. Fair play, nice touch.
Jim White now on Sky Sports News reporting from the roof, pointing out various grounds in London where transfer activity may happen. He just tried to point to Milan. Yep.
It was mooted earlier and now it seems that Jermaine Jenas will be joining QPR after being spotted at Loftus Road. David Bentley is also linked. Harry really is getting he gang back together. It's all a bit Ocean's 24: The Nursing Home Job though, isn't it?
Martin O'Neill has also sent Ahmed Elmohamady (remember him) packing, with Hull, and old boss Steve Bruce, next for him.
Danny Graham's arrival at Sunderland means that Martin O'Neill has issued Louis Saha with whatever the footballer's equivalent of a P45 is and released him. Literally seconds later the Saha to Arsenal rumour started. I think we can safely add QPR to that too.
Okay, Beckham presser continues. Only bit of news really is that it is a five-month deal.
First question at press conference is will the family be joiningyou in Paris and do you speak French? All the important football questions... anyway, here's a pic of him in the PSG shirt

We really hope this is true. BBC Radio 5Live say that Beckham's presser is delayed while he learns to read his opening statement in French. We really hope Joey Barton is tuning in to this...
In non-transfer news, Chelsea's Eden Hazard will not be getting any extra punishment for his ball boy booting. Just the three gamnes then as the FA decide to leave well enough alone.
Beckham's PSG press conference is later than a Paul Scholes/Lee Cattermole/Glenn Whelan tackle. Sky have confirmed that the microphones are working though and we should have some pearls of wisdom from the man himself real soon.
It sounds like David Ngog will be joining Fulham from Bolton. Yeah, not exactly a thrilling bit of news, is it?
Doni leaving Liverpool has led to some putting two and two and linking Begovic to Anfield. Sounds highly unlikely to us but...
Twitter is gone on the blink again, meaning the rumour mill has ground to a halt.
The Beeb are also saying that Swansea asked Man City for youngster John Guidetti to cover the large hole left by Danny Graham. Bobby Mancini said no because of the crazy hole left by Mario Balotelli. Not the first story full of holes you will read today. I'm here all day folks, ALL DAY!
Just to keep you abreast of all the Russian moves, Sky are reporting that their sources say that Shakhtar Donetsk's Willian is joining Anzhi Makhachkala for a spicy £34m.
Quotes from Paul Lambert's new buy, via the BBC: "I can't wait to fight for the club and help the club climb the table. My first task will be to integrate myself with my new team-mates and to help those around me grow and to build with them a strong team. I'm thrilled to be part of this."
Thrilled, eh? Bless.
News for Aston Villa fans. Yacouba Sylla has joined from Clermont Foot. He's a defensive midfielder with one French Under 21 cap to his name.
The BBC are reporting that Arsenal may be trying to buy a left-back in light of Kieran Gibbs' injury. We would add Andre Santos' awfulness to that.
Everton's Stephen Pienaar issues a 'come-and-join-us' plea, which makes a nice change

IRISH NEWS KLAXON: Rory Delap has gone on loan from Stoke to Barnsley according to the all knowing Sky Sports News bot who is on the flat screen right now. A long-throw of the dice by the Championship strugglers?
Possibly the worst news of the day is that Twitter is down, meaning that the rumour frenzy is well below the expected speed.
Okay, now that we have the actual facts out of the way, it's on to the speculation bonanza that is transfer deadline day. Some of the more interesting ones are Alvaro Negredo to Everton, Peter Crouch to QPR, Peter Odemwingie to QPR and David Villa to half the Premier League. Spurs are also expected to 'do some business' so we should be kept nice and busy.
Finally, Norwich have nabbed Leeds forward Luciano Becchio. They are still in what looks like an increasingly desperate pursuit of Celtic's Gary Hooper. That's another one that will run all day/night.
And Harry Redknapp has been busy, splashing a reported £12m to bring former Blackburn central defender Chris Samba to QPR. Redknapp told Sky Sports News, through the car windo of course, that Samba is a 'top, top, top player'. No firther comment needed.
Stoke have landed Birmingham keeper Jack Butland, for £4m, leading some to belibve Asimir Begovic may e on the move. One to watch for the next eight hours we suspect...
In the Premier League, Danny Graham has made the move from Swansea to Sunderland, for a fee of £5million, which seems a decent deal to us.
Okay, the big move today is David Beckham to PSG. The 38-year-old isn’t tied to any club of course so he could move on any day but where’s the fun in that. In Paris Becks will hook up with one of his many former gaffer’s, Carlo Ancelotti. There is a press conference due at 4pm, and we’ll bring you all the news from that, if there is any.
Okay, we’ve got more Red Bull in the fridge than a junior doctor, more snacks to hand than a crisp factory worker and more caffeine in the building than Maxwell has in his famous House. That means we’re all set for an epic live blog of all today’s transfer deadline day action.
We say ’action’ and we really hope it is action packed as we bring you all the way up to the window 'slamming' shut at 11.00. So far it hasn’t been too bad, to be fair, so here’s the deals that have gone through thus far.
