Trendspotting: Chinos get colourful for 2012

Without doubt, chinos were the breakthrough fashion trend of last season but for 2012, they're getting a lot more ambitious. Do you dare to wear purple/yellow/green chinos?

With most high street fashion stores stocking a much, much wider variety of chinos over denim these days, it can be said that chinos were indeed the biggest hit of 2011. Crucially, the style works on the high street to designer boutiques and complements every other men's fashion trend that has emerged in recent times.

However, it would appear as though chinos are getting fairly ambitious for 2012. Forget about beige and khaki styles, this year it's all about a cornucopia of colours. We've selected our favourites below, enjoy:

Cheap Monday Slim Chino - ASOS, €65.91

Another from ASOS, this release has a regular rise with a covered fly closure and extended belt loops, slash pockets to the hips and welt back pockets, in a skinny fit.

Band of Outsiders Classic Chino - End Clothing, €119.85

Premium cotton twill chino from Hollywood's own Band of Outsiders. The attention to detail and finish is as good as ever and can be seen with the inclusion of details such as metal hook fastening and a fishtail waistband.
