Here's a driver in the Porsche GT3 Cup sprint race challenge reacting like a boss when his steering wheel falls off.
As a race driver you can prepare yourself for a lot of things. You can prepare yourself for things like getting side swiped by an opponent or even keeping control of the car if you lose a wheel. But how do you expect someone to prepare for losing a steering wheel mid-race? Well, put simply, you can’t.
That didn’t stop the driver of this Porsche making it look easy as he raced around Sebring in the Porsche GT3 Cup sprint challenge. He obviously didn’t secure his steering wheel properly before the race and half way through it just popped off the steering column.
If you skip to around 14 seconds you’ll be able to see the wheel come of for a second before the driver slaps it back on without even thinking.
It’s a fairly impressive feat, however, it’s not half as impressive as the driver who lost a wheel mid-race, went back for it and then went on to win the ruddy thing. Now that’s impressive.
