Sean Quinn, once the richest in Ireland, is now getting his legal affairs handled for free.
The saga of Sean Quinn is going to make a hell of a film one day. From what was essentially a hole in the ground he built a multi-billion euro business before some over-zealous involvement with the madness that was Anglo Irish Bank eventually bankrupted him.
If some of the mess wasn’t now burdened on the Irish taxpayer we might even be able to sit through it. Anyway, the story hit a new low today for Quinn as it was revealed his legal team are working for free.
In the Commercial Court today, Quinn was battling to be represented in a case that members of his family are taking against Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC), the former Anglo Irish Bank.
Quinn was expected to represent himself in the case before senior counsel Brian Cregan and Blake Corrigan Solicitors agreed to take his case pro-bono, meaning Quinn has an extensive legal team on his side for this battle.
The Quinn family are bidding to get the €2billion the owe Anglo cancelled, a request the bank is fighting. As Quinn has been declared bankrupt he is no longer part of the case but he wants to join it and his team argued that he has the right to defend his name.
The case continues tomorrow.
