How Mrs van der Vaart eased any Dutch-German tension

As football WAGs go, Sylvie van der Vaart is up there with our favourites. And it looks like she managed to ease any neighbouring Dutch-German rivalries in Kharkiv last night.

Sylvie’s husband, Dutch vice-captain Rafael, is among a squad of players certain to feel the heat following a second successive Euro 2012 defeat, which means they need a minor miracle on Sunday night to reach the quarter-finals.

But if a bit of tension was expected between these two old foes (albeit not on the same scale as Tuesday’s Poland-Russia set-to), it looked all sweetness and light wherever Sylvie van der Vaart went.
